Canmore Wedding Videographer

I've been filming weddings for 18 years, and my best guess is that I have now filmed more than 400. So needless to say I have some experience up my sleeve when it comes to being in the right place at the right time. I prefer to capture the wedding day as naturally as possible, without a lot of stop/start instruction and direction. That makes for a much more natural 'you' on camera, and a much better wedding video while also allowing you to feel less self-conscious and have more fun on your wedding day.

What Wedding Couples Have Said

“Ewen, That was incredible!  Hiring you may have been the best decision we made for our wedding.

You captured so many little moments that I hadn't even realized you filmed and was worried that they would eventually fade away-- I'm so so thankful that we will have these memories forever now.  I've already watched it twice and cried both times! Thank you so much for the work you put into this video and our wedding.  I'm really so appreciative.”

“Ring Tail Films does an exceptional job with their wedding videos! Their style is unique, timeless, beautiful, and you can tell they put a lot of heart into their work.

They are superb quality and show the vibe and energy and love of your wedding in a way that only video can. Pictures are stunning but video with south is a whole other level. You will absolutely not regret having them capture all your special moments. On the actual day the crew was super respectful and never in the way at all. They blended in seamlessly with the photographers so that taking photos and videos was efficient and smooth and not very time consuming. The amount of videos you get is also very worth the money when you get a full package. I can't recommend them enough. A wedding can go by so fast for the bride and groom and it is very special to relive those memories from a day that means so much. You can see yourselves read your vows, hear the music playing during your first dance, laugh at speeches, and see everyone partying and having a great time. There are also moments you will see for the first time like your spouse getting ready or your friends and family talking about you. Book them!.”

“Ewen!!!!!!!!!!! Excuse my language but HOLY SHIT. In tears right now. We cannot thank you enough.

From Mike: "there was a bomb at our wedding. You were da bomb". Thank you thank you thank you. We love it!! You captured so many moments and so much story behind us and our day that we haven't been able to see. There's some stills in there that mean so much to us that I'll be able to pull too. Thank you!!! ”

“I would recommend Ring Tail Films to anyone and everyone! They truly made our wedding day last forever - I re-watch the videos all the time!

We were so close to not hiring a videographer for our wedding day just thinking that it wasn't worth the money. But I am so happy we did because it has to be the best investment we could have ever made to remember our special day. I watch our video and highlight video all the time and Ring Tail Films did such a beautiful job capturing all of the emotions throughout the day perfectly. I can't say enough great things about them. People ask me all the time who did our wedding video - they are the best in the business in my opinion!”

Our Services

  • Elopement

Generally fewer than 10 guests, often just the couple themselves and maybe an officiant. I film some getting ready footage, a ceremony or vow exchange, and a photoshoot.

Want to get adventurous? I will absolutely hike with my camera gear. As far and high as you like. Or ski with it. Or we could make it a helicopter elopement, no complaints about doing those!

  • Full Wedding Day

For full wedding days I only do full day packages. Video is story telling, and I want to tell the story of your wedding day from stat to finish. So every package includes getting ready, ceremony, photoshoot and reception coverage.

I video Canmore weddings, Banff weddings, Lake Louise weddings and Calgary weddings without any travel charges. I am also a regular filming in Invermere and Kicking Horse/Golden.

  • Multi-day Weddings (including Sikh and Hindu)

Having a Sikh, Hindu, Ismaili or other multi-day wedding? Or maybe a fusion wedding of two different cultures that requires more than one day of filming?

I have plenty of experience of all sorts of Indian wedding events and know a lot of the traditions. OK, maybe not too hot with the names but it’s useful to know what is going to happen next!

 FAQs

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • I have a drone and I do love using it. However like everything else, it is just a tool and it has a time and a place. It’s great for setting a scene, showing off a location, or showcasing amazing scenery, but it should never be the be all and end all of a wedding video. The moments and people are much more important and that’s where my emphasis goes.

Also drones are illegal in the mountain parks surrounding Banff and Canmore and I do abide by that. However, I still make an effort (and know the spots) to get stunning scenery and location shots without using a drone for those weddings where I am not allowed to fly

  • The music for my wedding videos is also correctly licensed for use. Which means I am paying for the rights to use songs. Typically these songs are from www.musicbed.com which has high quality songs specifically created for wedding videos, documentaries, short films etc.

You are welcome to choose songs fom this site yourself to yours, or give me a genre or style you like and let me pick. Or you can leave it completely up to me and I will pick songs that pick the vibe of your day and my vision for your wedding video. The music is hugely important in setting a feel for your wedding video and I put a LOT of time into finding a song that works for a video before I even start editing the video to that song.

  • First I use quality equipment I and I know how to use it. Second I make sure there is always a back-up option. For the wedding ceremony I mic the groom and the officiant myself, and also make sure I have a third audio option from the DJ or sound system if there is one. I can then mix and match to get the best possible quality for the video.

For the reception I again plug into the DJ or the house system so I don’t get any annoying room/people noise and get nice clear audio of all the speeches.

  • Pretty much every single wedding I have filmed has had a photographer present, so I have plenty of experience filming alongside many, many different photographers. At the end of the day we are both there for you, the client, and we are both striving to give you the best possible wedding video and wedding photos. The way we can do that is if we communicate well, share, and feed of each others ideas and creativity. It helps if we have fun doing it too, a wedding day should be enjoyable after all.

The bottom-line is that I always introduce myself to the photographer at the start of the day, ask them to let me know what I can do to make their job easier and their photos as good as possible and to let me know if I am ever in their way. And then hopefully they will extend me the same respect. Gone are the days when one is more important than the other (let’s be honest, that has always been photography haha) and there is no reason why you can’t have a fantastic wedding video and fantastic wedding photos and an enjoyable wedding day all at the same time.
